Description
Ado Chale rare coffee table with Arizona petrified Sequoia wood inlaid in thick black lacquered resin tabletop resting on 3 sets of black painted tripod steel brackets, Belgium, 1970s. The Sequoia fossilized wood dating back 250 million years with its gorgeous rich colors of red, burnt orange, brown and gray-blue sits in sharp contrast with the black lacquer of the resin. Signed on side of tabletop in bronze Ado Chale.
This coffee table is an exquisite example of Ado Chale's work in which he references the natural world not only through the use of precious stones, metals, and organic materials, but also through the textures, patterns, and forms they express. His works have been exhibited at the Musée d'Ixelles in Belgium, Musée des Beaux Arts in Nancy, Musée Galliera in Paris, Palais des Papes in Avignon, and retail chain Seibu’s contemporary art museum in Japan. His pieces can be found in several notable private collections, among them the Belgian royal family, British royal family, and King Saud of Saudi Arabia. -
