This rare pair of side/end tables was designed by Alain Ladroit in the 1970s. The model was part of the Atlantica series produced by Maison Regain in France. The design is marked by the architectural, modernist C shape of the base, which is entirely executed in solid elm. The wood with a visually appealing, typical elm grain. Square base and top composed of two rectangular panels. The tables are entirely constructed with internal wood joinery, so there are no visible screws or joints, adding to the minimalist appeal of the design.
The tables are in overall very good condition, with minimal wear consistent with age and use. one nearly invisible restoration to the base of one of the tables. Because of their size and relative light weight, this is a versatile side table which can be used and moved around in numerous spaces and functions. However, the C shaped construction does not allow for (very) heavy objects to be placed on the table.
