Description
Honest in construction and weighty in presence, this Brutalist round dining table embodies a quiet strength. Its design speaks with a raw, grounded clarity, favouring structure over ornament.
Design
Crafted in France in the 1950s, the table reflects a utilitarian ethos characteristic of post-war Brutalism. The thick, circular tabletop is hewn from solid oak, revealing the expressive grain and natural imperfections of the wood. A deep, warm patina has developed across its surface, the result of decades of use and wear. Four broad, slanted legs form a square stance beneath the top, lending a subtle geometry to the otherwise organic form. The angle of the legs offers both visual tension and physical sturdiness, recalling the carpentry traditions of rural Europe. Joints and construction are deliberately left exposed, celebrating the labour that went into its making. The table feels almost architectural; a piece built not to impress but to endure.
Condition
The table is in good vintage condition. Surface marks, minor wear and visible grain texture are consistent with its age and material, and contribute to its authenticity. - More Information
