Description
The Italian lamp manufacturer Mazzega was founded in 1946 and is known for its beautiful designs by, among others, Carlo Nason. They use age-old techniques to produce modern niche glass objects. Especially the designs from the sixties and seventies are currently very much in vogue.
Design
The shape of this wall lamp is reminiscent of a folded piece of paper and is made of a Murano glass type or technique called ghiaccio. This typical cracked appearance is an effect achieved by immersing the hot glass in cold water, which causes cracks to appear in the surface. Another layer of clear glass is then placed on top, so that the cracks appear to appear in the glass, as it were. The result is an object that appears to be made of ice. A beautiful blue hue is mixed in the glass which gives the lamp a very appealing look. Two screws can be seen at the same height from each other with which the glass is attached to the fixture. The fixture is painted white and has a large fitting, i.e. an E27 fitting. The simplicity of the design in combination with the Murano glass design makes it a real pleasure to look at and, above all, a beautiful addition to the interior.
Condition
The fixture shows some minor signs of wear that are consistent with its age and the glass is flawless. -
