Description
This is an authentic replica of the iconic "Dining Table" designed by the renowned Italian designer Carlo Mollino and originally produced in Turin in 1949. This masterpiece was commissioned by the Italian republic and gifted to the Brooklyn Museum after being exhibited in the museums of 11 other US cities during the "Italy at work" event in 1950. The table, which is one of the most celebrated designs of all time, recently sold for a staggering 6,196,785 USD, setting a new record for the artist and becoming the highest-paid work of Italian design ever.
Measuring 250cm in length (8'.2”), 77 cm in width (2'.52”), and 78.5 cm in height (2'.57”), this replica is an exact copy of the original and is made of curved maple plywood, just like the original. The metallic parts of the table, including the screws, are all individually handmade and specially crafted in brass, ensuring a superior level of quality and attention to detail.
This particular replica is the first piece of an extremely small production run consisting of only 10 exemplars, all of which have been handmade in Italy since 2021 and have been left to season for at least a year to prevent any possible structural deformations due to the natural aging process of the wood. Every possible check has been made to ensure that the table is of the highest quality and meets the standards of the original.
The table comes with a tempered glass top that is the same size as the original for security reasons. However, if needed, the top can be provided in a different size to accommodate specific needs. Overall, this replica is a true work of art and a fitting tribute to the genius of Carlo Mollino. -
