Description
A striking example of American modern design, this vintage smoked Lucite pedestal was designed and manufactured in the United States by celebrated designer Charles Hollis Jones and is hand-signed and dated 1978. Known for pioneering the use of acrylic and Lucite in luxury interiors, Jones created iconic furnishings favored by Hollywood collectors, architects, and top interior designers.
This sculptural pedestal features a dramatic faceted silhouette with deeply smoked Lucite panels that create an elegant play of transparency, reflection, and shadow. Its clean geometric form makes it an ideal display stand for sculpture, ceramics, bronze works, floral arrangements, or as a standalone minimalist statement piece. The rich smoky tone pairs beautifully with mid-century modern, contemporary, Hollywood Regency, and luxury modern interiors.
Signed examples from the 1970s are increasingly sought after, particularly pieces that showcase Jones’ signature mastery of proportion and material innovation. This pedestal offers both functionality and collectible design pedigree.
The piece remains in good vintage condition with mild nicks and surface scratches consistent with age and use, adding authentic character to this late 20th-century original.
Measurements:
36 in high x 12 in wide x 12 in deep
91.44 cm high x 30.48 cm wide x 30.48 cm deep
Perfect for collectors of Charles Hollis Jones, Lucite furniture, American modernism, gallery presentation pieces, and designers seeking a refined architectural accent. -
