Wall-Mounted Console Table by Charlotte Perriand, France, 1950s

Designed by Charlotte Perriand, this wall-mounted wooden console was created in the 1970s for the ski resort of Les Arcs 1800 and used as a bar in the Les Arandelieres residence. It features a long, free-form solid pine top, displaying a rich patina and expressive grain. Mounted slightly offset from the wall, the sculptural shape of the top is emphasised, while two black lacquered metal brackets, echoing the design language of Perriand’s Les Arcs table bases, provide discreet structural support. the table can function as a console, writing desk, or display surface, offering versatility within a minimal footprint.

Charlotte Perriand (1903–1999) was a pioneering French designer and architect and a central figure in 20th-century modern design. After collaborating closely with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, she developed a more organic, human-centred approach rooted in nature and craftsmanship. Her later work, particularly in the French Alps, reflects a deep respect for vernacular architecture and natural materials. Perriand’s designs remain highly influential and collectible for their rare balance of modernism, warmth, and functionality.
