French 19th Century Walnut and Oak Single Drawer Server

This modest console table, or server, is hand-crafted of solid walnut and oak dates to the mid-to late 19th century France. The planks of the top have incredible texture, a rich patina from time & use, and breadboard arrangement with perpendicular boards on the short sides made using square-peg joinery. A shallow drawer sits in the middle of the apron that has been cleaned and waxed to glide easily, opened by a turned wood knob. Within the wood one sees long ago insect damage leaving convoluted grooves of incredible texture that adds to the organic qualities of the piece. The whole is supported by thick, square legs with bottom stretchers to withstand use in any number of different rooms and functions. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to preserve all the historic character. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
