Unique black lacquer and brass Maison Jansen dining table 1970s
-
Description
A rare piece from Maison Jansen, this octagonal dining table was a commission by a private client. With its impeccable design, perfect proportions, and high-end materials like mother of pearl lacquer and brass, it was likely a hugely expensive undertaking. Yet, the resulting symmetry and unusual beauty is a worthy result of such efforts. As expected for 1970s design, the structure feels rich, thick legs made from solid brass. The table top is a lovely black lacquer, inlaid with unique geometric designs of gleaming brass and organic-feeling mother of pearl. The octagonal shape of the table offers a final punch of individuality, shirking the typical oval or rectangle shape, and can make a beautiful entrance or center table. Fully restored to very good vintage condition, this table reveals stunning attention to detail at every bend. It is a fascinating Maison Jansen masterpiece.
