Description
This circular table is veneered in richly figured mahogany, its top displaying an intricate play of grain beneath a protective glass plate. The glass not only safeguards the surface but also highlights the depth and character of the veneer. A second circular tier adds both visual rhythm and practical function, creating additional space for books or decorative objects.
The composition rests on a cylindrical pedestal finished with a discreet metal ring, a detail that enhances the table’s architectural profile. Such a design reflects the later Art Deco sensibility of the 1930s–40s, where geometric balance and noble veneers defined the era’s interiors. While the maker remains unidentified, the craftsmanship and design language are closely aligned with French cabinetmaking traditions of the time, when precision and luxurious veneers were hallmarks of high-quality production.
With its elegant proportions and carefully considered details, this coffee table embodies the understated sophistication that made Art Deco a defining movement in furniture design.
Condition
This table is partially restored and the condition is good overall, with light wear visible on the glass and minor marks to the veneer edges, consistent with age and use.
