Swedish 1810s Period Gustavian Painted Side Table with Drawer and Carved Apron
-
Description
A Swedish Gustavian period painted side table from the early 19th century with single drawer, carved apron and cylindrical legs. Born during the Gustavian era, this Swedish painted side table features a rectangular top with rounded edges, sitting above a large single drawer. A beautifully carved apron with central shell and foliage motifs connects the two front legs to one another, while the scalloping continues on the lateral sides. The table is raised on four slender cylindrical legs, whose rounded lines complement the ensemble perfectly. The table is painted in a light color, typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes, aiming at brightening the homes during the long, dark winters of Sweden. With its elegant lines and lovely decor, this Swedish side table circa 1810 will bring a graceful touch to any home, whether placed in a bedroom, living room or hallway.
