Tiffany & Co. Natural Pearl and Diamond Ring

$ 60,000
  • Description
    Dating from circa 1910, this Tiffany & Co. Edwardian three-stone saltwater natural pearl and diamond ring is mounted in platinum. The ring centers a natural white button pearl measuring approximately 8.54 mm, flanked by old European-cut diamonds (approximate total weight 3.00 carats), above a scrolling gallery, completed by a foliate and line-incised shank. A classic jewel by Tiffany & Co., this Edwardian three stone ring showcases the period white-on-white palette - the deep satiny white luster of a natural pearl enhanced and contrasted by the white radiance of diamonds.

    In the 1890s, the new American aristocracy was drawn to the Belle Époque style, a revival referencing the Ancien Régime. All-white diamond, pearl and platinum jewelry reigned in Paris and London. Under the design leadership of Paulding Farnham, Tiffany & Co. excelled in this style, with jewels such as the extravagant diamond Wade Family necklace (now in the Tiffany Archives) exemplifying the American response to top French jewelry. Americans adopted this extravagant pure white gem palette with enthusiasm, with contemporary journalists reporting that women were wearing diamonds to the beach.
