Georges L’Enfant studied jewelry both in Paris and abroad. He was a Cartier work master and eventually registered his own distinctive maker’s mark in 1909. He crafted jewelry to be sold by Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Mellerio dits Meller that bore his identifiable mark. Georges son Jacques joined his business in 1915 at age 11. L’Enfant created jewelry for Gustave-Roger Sandoz, Vacheron Constantin and Hermes. The fine craftsmanship of vintage George L’Enfant estate jewelry pieces makes them highly desirable to this day.
