Description
A remarkable Gustavian painted buffet, made in Sweden, towards the beginning of the 19th century. Painted a spectacular ivory-white, time has afforded the finish a patina that is simply stunning. Wonderful carved details also grace the buffet. The top is trimmed in a dentil molding, while two large, fluted diamonds have been carved into the front door panels. The piece has a lockable drawer set above two lockable doors. The doors conceal an interior that has a single fixed shelf. Adorable feet, that have been tapered, carved and fluted, lift the case piece 5″, creating an airy feel that with the warm, light paint finish give the antique an easy and comforting aura.
