Pair of Neoclassical Style Bedside Cabinets Retailed by Au Gros Chêne
French, late 19th Century
Height 83cm, width 50cm, depth 35cm
Designed in the refined Neoclassical style, this pair of bedside cabinets are crafted from hardwood and mounted with glass and gilt bronze details. They stand on four cabriole legs, which have scrolled foliate gilt bronze mounts to the shoulders and feet. Each body features chevron parquetry on the front cabinet door, which opens to a grey velvet lined cupboard. Above this door is a frieze drawer on each cabinet, with flanking gilt bronze mounts and gilt bronze ring handle. The top of each cabinet has a chevron veneer, topped with a protective glass cover.
