Art Deco vase by Charles Schneider

A bold and dynamic example of French Art Deco glass, this vase was created by Charles Schneider at his renowned Épinay-sur-Seine glassworks, celebrated for its vividly colored art glass of the interwar period. The vase is executed in Schneider's signature "tango" palette — a fiery blend of deep red shading into rich amber-orange — one of the most sought-after colorways from the maker's 1920s production.
The ovoid body is worked in the "filetes" (threaded/ribbed) decor, with fine vertical ribbing running the full length of the vase, catching and refracting the layered red-to-amber tones beautifully. A collared neck in a deeper, more saturated red sits above the body, its gently bulbous form separated from the vase's shoulder by a subtly cinched waist. The vase is raised on a contrasting deep purple/black applied foot, a hallmark of Schneider's tango-glass production, providing a striking chromatic counterpoint to the warm tones above.
