Rare Warren McArthur desk chair manufactured in Rome New York in the mid 1930s.
The circular framed chairs of which to my knowledge there were only five designs produced , Models 1040, 1080, 1081, 1082 (never seen one) and this model 1083 are the rarest and hardest to find framings designed by Warren McArthur.
Wonderfully comfortable chair nicely scaled and elegant from all angles.
The armrests are in original leather or leatherette and the back cushion and seat cushion are a high grade marine vinyl that closes matches the armrest upholstery in color and texture..
The frame has been cleaned by hand and wax polished.
The rubber feet have been replaced where needed with cast duplicate hard rubber feet.
The "PATS. APPLIED FOR" Rome N.Y. decal is the earliest Warren McArthur Corporation label and would date the construction of the chair after 1932 and prior to 1936.The Warren McArthur Furniture Company labels predate all of the Rome and other Corporation labels because they identify Los Angeles product that was produced between 1930 to early 1933.
Overall this chair is in very good condition with minor wear consistent with a well cared for piece of furniture.
