As usual, Bemelmans delivers a charming moment. We see a happy-go-lucky waiter balancing a tray of food high above his head. He struts and dances down a ship's hallway as on-lookers delight in his little jig. A bridge and town are visible in the upper right. There is a possible Madeline sighting to the left of the waiter. This work is a deceptively great Bemelmans because it evokes the artist's unique brand of wit and charm. It's simple work but packed with charm, wit and big on concept.
