Description
This very rare set of modular coffee tables was designed by Gio Ponti and produced by ISA Bergamo in Italy in the 1950s. Each table is marked with a metal manufacturers tag 'ISA'. The set consist of 7 tables, each with a hexagonal shaped top, standing on three V shaped legs in black painted iron. The tops of six tables are executed in a beautiful veneered ash wood, with three finished with a dark stain and the remaining three in a lighter stain. The seventh top is in a white laminate veneer. The well balanced combination of the lighter, darker and white tops makes this a versatile and playful set to place. The geometric tables can be grouped together and function as a large coffee table in a honeycomb shaped composition. The tables can also be placed individually or in smaller groups.
The tables are in very good original condition, with a few minor signs of wear consistent with age and use.
