Description
This is a globular Alba-shaped Seguso Viro blown art glass vase from Murano. It is entitled "Orizzonte" (Horizon) as it shows a night sky and abstract reflections of sunset clouds above the horizon line, below which are cloud reflections on the surface of a lagoon. The striking colors are blue and orange. It is an abstract-patterned, 101-Limited edition collection from Seguso Viro. Each vase is unique since it is hand-blown. This vase is #53 of 101. In 2001 Seguso Viro began production of limited edition series which later included this vase in the Orizzonte limited edition pattern. Each of the series are denoted as 101-Limited. No more than 101 examples of each series were ever to be made. The signature on the bottom reads "Seguso Viro Murano 53/101 ALBA". It was hand-blown in Murano, Italy circa 2010. This series has been sold out. It is no longer in production. Seguso Viro is a company founded in 1993 by Giampaolo, the son of the maestro Archimede Seguso, along with his own three sons, Gianluca, Pierpaolo, and GianAndrea. The Seguso family has been continuously operating in Murano since 1397.
