Pair of "Chinese hat" floor lamps, model 9602

A rare pair of Paavo Tynell Model 9602 Floor Lamp designed by renowned Finnish lighting designer Paavo Tynell and produced by Taito Oy in Finland, Circa 1950.

Known as the “Chinese Hat,” Model 9602 was originally designed in 1935 for Hotel Aulanko and remains one of Tynell’s most celebrated lighting designs.

This pair features the flat-base variation with original maker’s stamps. The elegant rattan shades complement the warm brass structure and enhance the organic character of the design.

The brass surfaces have developed a rich natural patina over time, highlighting the lamps’ age and authenticity. Both lamps remain in very good vintage condition.

“The man who illuminated Finland,” Tynell played a defining role in Scandinavian modern lighting design. His fixtures were created for important interiors including the Finnish Parliament House and the United Nations.
His work continues to be admired for its craftsmanship, elegance, and timeless appeal.
