Description
Chinoiserie Lacquer Box Qing Dynasty. Beautifully hand painted Chinoiserie Box decorated with auspicious Chinese scenes. The box is constructed of wood having polychrome painting lacquered with bronze metal hardware. In good condition. Areas of the box have been touched up over it's life span to maintain it. Some scratches are evident with close inspection and are pictured. Beautiful sensational decorative antique box can be used for storage and display. This is a special box that was used to hold rolled scrolls of paintings and calligraphy. The box is 1 or a pair, pair available. Truly special. Is large size for table display 28 inches long by 10 inches high and deep. Looks amazing in person.
Lacquer touch up on corners, edges and scratches have been part of the history to maintain the art work of this item. This is common for these elaborately decorated lacquer boxes. -
