Rare Diminutive Five-Leg Games Table
New York, ca. 1765-1775.
Mahogany, secondary woods; white ash (back rail and gate), and pine.
Over-all in fine condition. Minor wear and some staining expected with age and use.
Provenance: Private Collection, New York; Bernard and s. Dean Levy, Inc., New York.
This superbly developed, finely carved fold-top games table with well executed foliate-carved knees and center cartouche is constructed in a rare small, compact size. The beautifully carved shaped skirt and arched side rails are supported by cabriole legs ending on carved ball and claw feet.
Dimensions: 27 ¼” h., 30” w., 16: d. (closed) / 26 ¼” h., 30” w., 29” d. when open.
