Description
Pair of First Edition Pierre Paulin F580 Lounge Chairs for Artifort, 1960s – Sculptural Serenity in Motion
A rare, all-original pair of first edition F580 lounge chairs by visionary designer Pierre Paulin for Artifort, crafted in the Netherlands in the 1960s. These iconic chairs seamlessly blend avant-garde artistry with ergonomic mastery, embodying Paulin’s revolutionary approach to postwar design.
With sweeping contours and an effortlessly fluid silhouette, each chair reads as both seat and sculpture—a sensual, organic form that seems to emerge from the earth itself. The F580’s biomorphic shape cradles the body in unparalleled comfort, providing a surprisingly supportive sit even for people with taller frames.
This particular pair remains in original condition, a testament to Paulin’s uncompromising quality and the enduring legacy of his work. The magenta wool upholstery and foam are untouched and well preserved, making them as collectable as they are functional.
An extraordinary addition to any high-design interior, these chairs are as compelling from behind as they are from the front—meant to be admired from every angle. Often dubbed the "M" Chair or "Groovy Chair" based on the uniquely organic shape. -
