Description
George III sterling silver covered urn. Made by George Fenwick in Edinburgh in 1808. Ovoid bowl on raised foot; leaf-mounted scroll bracket handles. Cover double-domed with acorn finial. Chased rinceaux and acanthus leaf bands. Gilt interior. Modish Classicism from the “Athens of the North”, as Edinburgh was called back then. Fully marked. Very good condition. Visible handwork.
