Description
Ib Kofod-Larsen Recliner and Ottoman for Selig in fresh Black Italian leather. This recliner has such an elegant form: sculpted arms that flare gently outward, a high, winged back that cradles the head and shoulders, and legs that taper with the precision of a master cabinetmaker. An anomaly for the time, designed for a taller person.
With an internal reclining mechanism hidden within its elegant frame, the chair invites you to lean back and relax.
The recliner has a sculpted frame that evokes mid-century sculpture more than furniture. It speaks to the heart of Kofod-Larsen’s philosophy: that comfort is not excess—it’s essence. That a chair should support not just your body, but your spirit. With an internal reclining mechanism hidden within its elegant frame, this chair has 3 reclining positions pictured here. And then there's the form: sculpted arms that flare gently outward, a high, winged back that cradles the head and shoulders, and legs that taper with the precision of a master cabinetmaker.
Made of beech stained walnut. The wood has been newly restored and is in excellent condition. The wood has a beautiful deep brown color that complements the black leather so well.
Dimensions: Chair: 33"L x 35"H x 30"W
Ottoman: 18"W x 15"H x 24.25" L
Ib Kofod-Larsen
Architect Ib Kofod-Larsen (1921-2003) had a successful career in the 1950s and 1960s when Scandinavian Modern design was flourishing across the world, transforming the simple and straightforward into unusually elegant furniture. He had an exceptional understanding of materials and an eye for the potential of the wood and the quality of the raw materials he used.
His furniture is sophisticated and well-proportioned with beautiful silhouettes and sculptural, organic lines and curves. -
