Art Nouveau Martelé coffee and tea set on tray. Made by Gorham in Providence, 1918-19. This set comprises kettle on stand with heating element, coffeepot, creamer, sugar, and waste bowl on tray. Leaf-mounted high-looping handles and domed covers with open bud finials. Wispy mouth rims and raised and lobed feet with tucked-under scroll supports. Fresh and wholesome floral ornament with delicately chased blossoming branches overlapping fluted frames. Engraved coat of arms.
Fully marked including maker’s stamp and codes PIT (coffeepot, teapot, creamer, sugar and waste bowl), PIU (kettle and stand), and PIV (tray). All pieces have Martelé stamp except heating element which has sterling stamp. The tray was made in 1918. The kettle and stand, coffeepot, creamer, sugar, and waste bowl were made in 1919. The heating element was made in 1926. Very good condition with nice patina.
