Bertil Brisborg was a key figure in Swedish mid 20th century lighting design, best known for his long collaboration with Nordiska Kompaniet. Working during a period when Scandinavian modernism was refining its design language, Brisborg focused on balance, proportion, and material harmony rather than visual excess. His designs reflect the NK ethos of combining refined craftsmanship with everyday usability, producing objects that feel considered, calm, and quietly elegant.

This pair of model “32929” table lamps is a strong example of this approach. Each lamp features a slender turned wooden stem that rises cleanly from a brass base, creating a warm contrast between the polished metal and natural wood. The proportions are carefully considered, with the height of the stem balanced by the wide pleated fabric shade that softens the light and gives the lamps their characteristic silhouette.
