This late 19th century French George III style demi-lune commode is an exceptional example of polychrome-painted and satinwood-inlaid craftsmanship. The gracefully curved top features a central rosette, surrounded by a painted border of ribbon-tied berrying vinery, creating an elegant focal point. The frieze is adorned with swag-draped husks punctuated by rosettes, reflecting meticulous decorative detail and a refined classical vocabulary.
The commode is fitted with three graduated drawers flanked by cabinet doors, each decorated with delicately painted classical vignettes and enclosing additional shelving for practical storage.
