Description
An exceptional early 20th century American vase by Tiffany Studios, circa 1920, featuring a trumpet-shaped hand-blown Favrile glass top mounted on a patinated gilt bronze base. Favrile glass was Tiffany’s patented iridescent glass, prized for its shimmering, metallic-toned surfaces achieved through the addition of metal oxides while molten. Each piece is individually hand-blown, giving slight variations in color and form, making every vase unique.
The glass top is acid-etched and signed, a hallmark of Tiffany Studios’ attention to artistic detail and craftsmanship. The bronze base, stamped and numbered, provides a stable and decorative support, elegantly complementing the glowing surface of the glass.
This vase measures approximately 14¾ inches high by 5¾ inches in diameter (37 × 14 cm) and is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, or repairs, with minor wear consistent with age and use. The combination of the trumpet-shaped form, iridescent Favrile glass, and gilt bronze base makes this vase a striking example of early 20th century American decorative art.
Ideal for collectors of Tiffany Studios or fine American glass, this piece serves as both a decorative accent and a statement object that demonstrates the technical and artistic achievements of Tiffany Studios in the early 20th century. -
