Outstanding nutwood Biedermeier chest of drawers/ secretary desk from the famous period in Austria around 1830. Veneered in fine nutwood which shows an absolutely fantastic looking grain running down from the top to the bottom like a waterfall, this perfect restored 19th century writing commode provides four large drawers. The hinged top drawer transforms this remarkable Biedermeier chest of drawers into a fully functional secretary or writing desk with a beautiful ebonized writing surface. It provides another four small, birds-eye maple veneered drawers as well as two open compartments in the center. The traditional hand polished shellac finish as well as the artfully made brass fittings finalize this exceptional antique Biedermeier secretary desk/ writing commode/ chest of drawers. A truly impressive masterpiece of Biedermeier furniture from the early 19th century in Austria, coming in perfect restored condition.
