Description
This striking pair of side tables/gueridons was produced in France in the 1950s.
Each table features a welded steel rod construction with sculptural red scrolled tripod bases and black circular tops. The light rod framework beneath the top and the expressive scrolling legs serve as the primary decorative elements, finished in vivid red lacquer with contrasting black surfaces, giving the pieces a bold, graphic presence.
The design reflects a mid-century interpretation of classical French forms, with neoclassical influences in the symmetry and tripod structure, loosely evocative of the style of Emilio Terry. The tables have a sculptural quality and functional lightness, making them suitable as side tables or accent pieces.
The tables are in completely original vintage condition, with wear consistent with age and use, including minor scratches and patina to the painted finish. We have left the pieces as found, though refinishing the tops is always an option if a more pristine appearance is desired. -
