Description
An unusually detailed and skillfully painted large rectangular basin, embellished with scenes of the entry os a Samurai or noble into a site with cherry trees, ferns, flowers and distant mountains. The garments of the personnages are beautifully colored and outlined in gold; they carry fans, banners and instruments. The lower edge is encircled by a cloisonne band of flowers. The thick upper rim is a glorious pattern of textiles, cartouches and flowers with gold details.
