Description
An exceptional handwrought silver-plated cocktail pitcher by the renowned Los Castillo workshop of Taxco, Mexico, dating to the 1960s. This sculptural vessel beautifully captures the workshop's celebrated fusion of Mid-Century Modern design with pre-Columbian and Aztec-inspired artistry, making it both a functional bar accessory and an important example of collectible Mexican silver design.
Crafted in solid brass with a brilliant silver-plated finish, the pitcher features elegant cylindrical proportions accented by finely engraved, stylized figures rendered in continuous linework. The imagery evokes ancient Mesoamerican iconography while maintaining the clean, modern aesthetic for which Los Castillo became internationally recognized. A distinctive integrated ice guard and pouring spout complete the sophisticated design, balancing practicality with sculptural elegance.
Stamped "Handwrought / Los Castillo / Taxco Mexico," this piece represents the exceptional craftsmanship that established Los Castillo among the most influential silversmiths in twentieth-century Mexico. Whether displayed as a striking decorative object, used as a cocktail mixer, or presented as a vase, it makes a dramatic statement in both modern and traditional interiors.
Highly desirable for collectors of Taxco silver, Mexican Modernism, Mid-Century barware, and museum-quality decorative arts, this rare cocktail pitcher is equally suited for sophisticated entertaining or curated interior design projects.
