Description
This extremely rare table lamp was designed by Eva & Johannes Andersen and produced by their workshop E&J Keramik in Denmark in the 1950s. The lamp is stamped with the manufacturer’s monogram and “Danmark” on the underside of the base.
The striking gourd-shaped base is executed in glazed ceramic. The vertical pattern has been painted by hand and consists of alternating green and black segments in an abstract leaf pattern. The masterful way in which the paint has been applied accentuates the gourd shape of the base. A refined and decorative piece with a high level of craftsmanship, and completely unique. The Empire-shaped shade has been renewed in a cream-colored Pierre Frey silk fabric.
The lamp is in very good condition with renewed 220V wiring, a new E26/E27 bulb fitting, and a new shade.
