Brazilian Modern Charcuterie Platter in Rosewood, Attributed to Jean Gillon

Designed by Jean Gillon and produced in Brazil during the 1960s, this sculptural charcuterie platter is handcrafted from solid jacarandá rosewood. Its elongated serving surface flows into an integrated handle, creating a fluid silhouette characteristic of Brazilian modern design.

A precisely carved longitudinal channel extends from the handle into the serving field, allowing the accompanying cheese knife to stand securely with its blade positioned downward. This thoughtful integration of utensil and platter transforms a functional detail into an essential part of the composition.

Deep chocolate tones, warm amber striations, and expressive linear grain emphasize the natural richness of the jacarandá. Softly rounded edges and balanced proportions give the platter a substantial yet refined presence, whether used for serving or displayed as a sculptural object.

Professionally refinished to preserve the wood’s tonal depth and satin luster. Excellent vintage condition, with minor marks consistent with age and use.
