Set of Eight Dining Chairs in Rosewood & Mohair by Celina, Brazil, 1960s

This sculptural set of eight Brazilian Modern dining chairs was produced by Celina in the 1960s. Each chair is defined by a tall, architectural backrest composed of slender vertical rosewood rods framed by clean, rectilinear lines. The open construction gives the chairs a graceful visual rhythm and a sense of lightness, while the finely proportioned legs and stretchers create a strong, balanced silhouette.

The Brazilian rosewood, also known as jacaranda, has been carefully refinished and has aged beautifully. Its deep chocolate-brown tones are animated by warm amber highlights and expressive natural veining, giving every chair a distinct character.

The seats have been newly upholstered in luminous champagne-mushroom mohair—a nuanced blend of pale mushroom, warm oatmeal and soft champagne tones. The fabric has a dense, velvety texture and subtle sheen that responds beautifully to light, bringing softness and dimension to the structured rosewood frames.

Elegant yet inviting, the set captures the essence of Brazilian Modern design through its sculptural use of tropical hardwood, disciplined geometry and refined material contrasts.
