Description
With its imposing, fan-shaped backrest and sculptural silhouette, this extraordinary peacock chair by Rohé Noordwolde is an impressive example of 1970s Dutch rattan furniture design. The wide, sweeping backrest is reminiscent of a peacock's fanned tail, giving the chair its characteristic, almost majestic appearance.
The artfully bent rattan elements, the curved armrests, and the meticulously executed wickerwork combine traditional craftsmanship with the organic design language of Mid-Century Modern. The warm, honey-brown hue emphasizes the material's natural appeal and makes the peacock chair an exceptional eye-catcher.
The peacock chair is in very good vintage condition with only minimal, age-related signs of wear. The rattan displays a beautiful, even patina that highlights the chair's authentic character.
Rohé Noordwolde is one of the well-known Dutch manufacturers of high-quality 20th-century rattan furniture. The company was based in Noordwolde in Friesland, a region with a long tradition of processing rattan and wicker materials.
Especially in the mid-20th century, furniture was created there that combined traditional weaving techniques with modern, expressive designs. The peacock chair embodies this connection in an impressive way. -
