Hector Aguilar

Hector Aguilar was a Mexican silver jewelry designer and silversmith who was active during the mid-20th century. He was born in 1905 in Taxco, Mexico, which is known for its rich history of silver mining and jewelry-making.
 
Aguilar began his career as an apprentice to a local silversmith in Taxco, where he learned the traditional techniques and skills of silver jewelry-making. In the 1930s, he opened his own workshop, Taller Borda, which quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality silver jewelry with unique designs.
 
Aguilar's jewelry designs were heavily influenced by the Art Deco and Modernist movements, and he often incorporated pre-Columbian motifs and Mexican cultural elements into his pieces. His designs were simple yet striking, featuring clean lines and bold shapes. He also experimented with different textures and finishes, such as matte and oxidized silver.
