David Lance Goines

David Lance Goines is an American artist, calligrapher, and author, best known for his iconic posters and book designs. Born in 1945 in Oregon, Goines grew up in California and studied art at the University of California, Berkeley. He first gained national attention in the 1970s for his series of posters promoting the Berkeley neighborhood known as the "Gourmet Ghetto," which featured his distinctive calligraphy and bold graphic design. He has also designed numerous book covers and layouts, including for Alice Waters' cookbook "Chez Panisse Menu Cookbook." In addition to his design work, Goines is also a prolific writer and has published several books on art, design, and calligraphy. He continues to create art and design work from his studio in California.
