Description
This elegant Art Deco white glazed porcelain sculpture depicts a graceful female dancer captured in a dramatic and highly expressive pose. The figure is modeled kneeling, with one leg extended gracefully forward while the other bends behind her, creating a dynamic composition with a wonderful sense of movement. Her arms are raised and extended in opposite directions, while her long, finely modeled hair flows freely behind her, further emphasizing the impression of motion.
Dating to approximately the 1920s–1930s, this beautifully modeled porcelain figure was made in Germany and is marked underneath with “Kunstabteilung,” together with additional maker’s markings and stamping. The sculpture is finely detailed throughout, with carefully rendered flowing hair, delicate hands and feet, and sweeping folds of drapery. The luminous white glossy glaze enhances the purity of the form and gives the sculpture a sophisticated decorative presence, while the fluid silhouette reflects the elegant and theatrical aesthetic of the Art Deco period.
Measuring approximately 11 inches tall and 11.5 inches long from the front leg to the back leg, this striking German porcelain sculpture would make an impressive addition to a mantel, console, pedestal, or display cabinet, and would complement both traditional and Art Deco interiors. - More Information
