Description
This elegant KPM porcelain covered centerpiece vase, made in Germany circa 1960, showcases the exceptional craftsmanship and refined decorative tradition of the renowned KPM porcelain manufactory. The urn-form vessel features a wide, rounded opening and stands on a circular gilt-decorated foot, creating a graceful and substantial presentation. The centerpiece is richly hand painted against a pristine white porcelain ground, with beautiful still-life bouquets displayed on both sides within circular gilt wreaths. Delicate hand-painted butterflies and scattered flowers in soft shades of purple, blue, pink, and green are arranged throughout the surface, complemented by finely applied gilding. Particularly charming are the two attached side handles, each modeled in the form of a graceful ribbon or bow and decorated in a soft ice-pink color with gilt accents.
The original removable cover features matching floral, butterfly, and gilt decoration and is finished with an elegant pink bow-shaped finial, beautifully echoing the ribbon-form side handles. The combination of pastel colors, floral still-life painting, butterflies, ribbons, and gilding gives this centerpiece an exceptionally decorative and sophisticated appearance. It would make a striking centerpiece for a dining table, console, or display cabinet and is equally attractive as a decorative porcelain object when the cover is removed.
The piece measures approximately 11 inches high and 7 inches in diameter. It is in great condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, and bears a KPM mark underneath. -
