Brutalist Metal Floral & Driftwood Sculpture Kurt Salla
-
Description
Brutalist metal sculpture of brass & copper on burl driftwood of nature scene by Kurt Salla. Lilly with with two birds. Although this art piece composition is of the Brutalist style and period the artistry is more refined capturing life like details true to nature. Detail to the leaves is excellent using patina affects on the metal along with hand painting that shows the leaves veins. The bodies of the two birds are wonderfully done having the lighter area of the birds body coloring being hollow showing showing as silhouettes and the darker area of the birds body coloring sculpted in dark bronzed color metal being very life like. This is a wonderful example of the this type of art sculpture being done in the end of midcentury in the brutalist style and period of the 1960-80's. This piece is the work of Kurt Salla 1941 -, Mississippi, an American artist who worked in metal, later in jewelry and painting, now retired. Signed Salla 1987.
