Description
A remarkable 19th century French Sèvres porcelain centerpiece vase, made in France in the early to mid-19th century, combining masterful hand-painted artistry with lavish gilt decoration. This large and imposing vase exemplifies the exquisite craftsmanship and elegance associated with Sèvres porcelain of the period.
The exterior features a finely hand-painted scene of a young beauty in period attire playing in a garden, accompanied by two angels, rendered in soft, harmonious hues of yellow, blue, pink, and white, set against a delicate pink ground with richly applied gilt highlights. Each painted scene is signed by the artist, confirming its originality and high-quality workmanship. The opposite side displays a still-life composition of flowers, executed in similar soothing colors and enhanced with heavy gilt ornamentation, creating a balanced and visually captivating design. The vase is elegantly proportioned, with a wide flaring top that tapers to a narrower base, accented by two large gilt-decorated side handles. It rests on a rectangular footed base adorned with matching gilt detailing, enhancing its formal presence and architectural elegance.
This centerpiece is both a decorative and statement object, perfect for display on a mantel, console, or large table, and serves as a true conversation piece in any interior.
The vase measures approximately 30 1/2 inches in height, 20 inches in width, and 9 inches in depth. It is in excellent antique condition, free of chips, cracks, or repairs, with minor wear consistent with age and use. -
