Madeleine Cros-Metivet Brutalist Marquetry sculpture on board, 1968 France, this piece collected in France. Her work is considered in the brutalist style and of the French late Modern Art period, pieces are hard to come by and examples in furniture more rare. Madeleine Cros-Metivet (born in 1930) a French artist known for her work in marquetry, which is the art of applying pieces of veneer to a structure to form decorative patterns, designs or pictures. Her work involved mostly with metals in marquetry. She demonstrated her skill in combining materials to create decorative and functional art. Her marquetry sculptures on board are the best examples of her work and highly regarded. Her work also integrated into some furniture pieces such as tables. She worked in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of France and exhibited throughout the region.
