Pair of Meissen porcelain heart-shaped candleholders
German, Late 19th Century
Height 18.5cm, width 12cm, depth 8.5cm

Each candleholder finely detailed to the centre with an image of playing cards to one side and crest on the reverses, each image contained within a gilt circle, further enhanced with gilt pattern work and a pink ribbon, all set within heart shaped gilt borders and on a white ground.

Surmounted by one candleholder, and flanked with a pair of satyr marks; all set on a socle with four rams' heads and blue crossed swords marks for Meissen, with light green ground and further gilt highlights throughout; inscribed to the underside "Ausschliefslich angefertigt fur P. Litchfield in London" (Made exclusively for S. Litchfield in London) and dated 1876.
