Description
This highly dynamic and brilliantly designed Mid-Century Modernist Kinetic "Tangle" Sculpture in Polished Chrome is by Richard X Zawitz and originates from the United States, 1982. Features a brilliant continuous form in polished chrome with near seamless hinged elements that rotate to inform the shape and nature of the "tangle" for which this sculpture derives its name. Richard X Zawitz studied art in Hawaii where he developed his conceptual and technical approach. A passage from his artist statement beautifully exemplified this internal discovery that has informed his practice since the beginning, "My work since the late 1960s has been devoted to the essences and energies which first became manifest to me through Chinese Taoism and then through the entire alchemical pantheon of the form and formlessness of Asian philosophy and metaphysics." These notions of infinity and interconnection are evident within this dynamic and stimulating sculpture, at a lovely scale and with the original sticker denoting the maker and year. This piece will draw the appreciation of those with a penchant for the finest and most dynamic and stimulating Mid-Century sculpture, styling beautifully in a wide array of spaces and settings, from Mid-Century Modernist to Contemporary and Minimal Interiors. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
