Los Castillo Taxco Azurite & Lapis Inlaid Silver Plated Tray, Mexican Modernist

A striking example of mid-century Mexican modernist silverwork, this vintage serving tray was designed and manufactured by Los Castillo in Taxco, Mexico, during the 1950s. Crafted from solid brass with a rich silver-plated finish, the tray is distinguished by its beautifully hand-inlaid border of Azurite and Lapis Lazuli, creating a dramatic interplay of deep blue, green, and earthy mineral tones that perfectly complement the reflective silver surface.

The underside retains the original Los Castillo hallmark reading "Los Castillo, Taxco, TA-01, Hecho en Mexico, Plateado, No. 106," confirming its authenticity and period manufacture.

Founded by Antonio Castillo, one of the legendary Castillo brothers, Los Castillo emerged as one of Taxco's most celebrated workshops following Antonio's early years working alongside William Spratling, widely regarded as the father of the modern Mexican silver renaissance.
