Description
Exquisite 17th-century Italian Baroque oil on canvas 'capriccio' painting in the manner of Alessandro Salucci depicting an urban battle scene between what appear to be Spanish soldiers and civilians, possibly depicting the 1647 Revolt of Masaniello in Naples, in a rich architectural setting of statue and balustrade crowned edifices with an Egyptian hieroglyphed obelisk at left side, housed in an antique giltwood frame with lambs tongue fillet.
