Accolay Ceramic and Copper Table Lamp with Resin Inclusions

Striking sculptural table lamp produced in Accolay, France, circa 1970s. This expressive piece exemplifies the bold, experimental aesthetic for which the small Burgundian village of Accolay became renowned in the postwar period.

The lamp features a hand-thrown ceramic base in a rich, earthy brown glaze with subtle textural variation and horizontal turning lines visible throughout. The ovoid form is punctuated by geometric perforations and a large oval resin inclusion, glowing warmly when illuminated. The ceramic retains its original artisanal character, with nuanced glaze pooling and tonal shifts typical of Accolay workshop production.

The cylindrical shade is crafted in patinated copper, worked with organic cut-outs and applied molten detailing. Large, irregular slabs of amber-toned resin are inset into the shade, creating a dramatic interplay of light and material. When lit, the resin diffuses a warm, golden glow, enhancing the lamp's sculptural presence and emphasizing its Brutalist sensitivity.
